Hearing connects us to our world

May 7, 2024

When you think of your hearing… what do you think of?  Do you think about sounds?  Do you think about music or perhaps conversations with friends?

When we have good hearing we have one of our most important senses that give us an intimate connection with our world.  Think about the sounds that are important to your happiness.

Hearing the giggles of your grandkids, the birds in the morning, or the golf ball hitting the face of the club as you tee off on that perfect drive.

Every sound that travels up the auditory nerve to the brain creates a ripple effect of wonderful stimulation.  Ever hear a sound and then you get a smell that accompanies it?  Like hearing a push mower and remembering the smell of fresh cut grass.  Our senses work together.

Some people can’t hear little giggles any more.  They just see the smile and a little squeal.  Some people lose their balance when they swing the gulf club because they have lost their unique hearing senses.  Instead of the golf ball making a robust connection sound it is more of a mushy or muddled sound.

Good hearing keeps you more connected.  Studies show that people with hearing loss are about 1/3 more tired at the end of the day than people with normal hearing.

Not only do you have more energy but life in general is just better is you can be an active participant in our world.  Hearing loss separates you from everything that makes life enjoyable.   Simply put… good hearing is essential to your your overall health.

Everyone over the age of 50 should get a complete audiometric evaluation and consultation for their medical history.  If you have not had one we are here to help.  Call 385-3497.  To Hear Better Is To Live Better!
