I come from a long line of construction contractors. My father built churches and installed audio/video equipment. I've been on job sites since I was a kid, moving from Ohio to Sebring. It was only recently that I started reading about the significant ties of dementia to hearing loss. Being no stranger to loud noise, seeing four family members pass away from advanced dementia and seeing my father begin to show symptoms himself. It jump started me into hearing healthcare. I figured after 20 years atop of a ladder with no safety, it was time to stop pushing my luck. Plus working with people one on one to better their everyday life, held far more appeal than swinging a hammer. While a challenging career, it has been incredibly rewarding to see the difference I can make in someone's day to day life.
